During Covid, I found myself dreaming of tropical water, that ethereal color of aqua blue that calms the soul. Since I, like everyone else was stuck at home during that time, to satisfy my dream, I found myself sewing aqua blue buttons onto a web of shaped organza. At least I could pretend I was near a body of tropical water even if I was only in my studio. Once “Oceania-High Tide” was completed, it needed a companion piece, one that represented the beach itself, so I created “Oceania-Low-Tide” from off-white, sand-colored buttons. From there I just kept going.
